How to tell it's ready: Fuyu persimmons are non-astringent — enjoy them firm, like an apple, or let them soften slightly at room temperature for a sweeter, honey-like flavor. Skin color deepens from pale orange to rich amber as ripeness increases. Avoid fruit with green patches; a fully orange exterior signals optimal flavor.
